Bringing The Outside Inside!
1. Get a real plant!!
OK, faux plants are great too if you don’t have time to care for a real indoor plant. Whichever you decide to choose, adding plants makes old spaces feel new. Spread out different plants in common areas to make the space feel welcome. If you’re on a budget its easier to add new plants than to buy new furniture.
2. What’s the theme of your room? Look for interesting shapes and colors.
I personally love patterns and colors. Look at plants like art and décor. You don’t want all your plants to look the same. I have a few tropical plants: Dracaena Fragrans, White bird of paradise and a snake plant. It adds a pop of color to my Living room, complements my furniture pieces, and gives the living room a settle vibe without feeling overwhelming.
3. Pick a size!
Over sized plants, especially plants that are 4 ft and above looks good in bare corners. Fill those corners in the house! Hanging plants are great on shelving or hanging from the ceiling, even from a tub 😊. Also, I love a good spike plant, you can sit these anywhere.
4. Its all about the visual interest!
Place your plants at different heights, you want your trailing plants to hang down while others spike upward. Hanging greenery to a workspace in your home or an office can add life to your routine. Also, if you have very limited floor space hanging plants is the way to go. And for my floor plant lovers, make sure your oversize plant to stays upright. If your oversize plant is leaning towards where the sunlight is coming in, you need to rotate sis!
5. Mixing plants into your decor
Spruce of neutral spaces! If brightly colored furniture is not your thing, you can still add in a pop of green without making the space too overpowering. Adding plants to a bedroom is always a great idea. For example, a small lavender plant makes the room extra calming. You also want to freshen up the air and space. So, add a little life and lushness!
6. The plant pot
The plant pot color and shape should fit into your overall scheme. My living room is more of a modern boho style. I went with a tan round fiberstone pot with rigid lines for my Dracaena Fragrans . I also, have a ceramic white square pot for my snake plant, which sits on a white media stand. The white square pot gives part of the room a modern clean look. Plant pots can be a little expensive but again, its cheaper than buying new furniture. The pot matters!
